A trickle of releases, meanwhile the semi-annual half price sale...

After a huge day of releases last Tuesday, thing have been pretty slow this week. Still, a few things have show up, including:

• Cain By Jose Saramago Narrated by Kevin Pariseau For Audible, Inc. — 5.5 hours — “The late Nobel laureate’s final novel, a radical retelling of the Old Testament.”
• Swan Song By Robert McCammon Narrated by Tom Stechschulte For Audible, Inc. — classic (well, 1980s!) sf novel about a post-nuclear-apocalypse United States
• Collection: The Angel Esmeralda: Nine Stories By Don DeLillo Narrated by Michael Cerveris, Peter Friedman, Heather Lind, Mercedes Ruehl,Aaron Tveit For Simon & Schuster Audio — a multi-narrator collection of the American novelist DeLillo’s short fiction across his writing career

• The Gunslinger: The Dark Tower I by Stephen King Narrated by George Guidall — it’s been on my Audible.com wishlist for 2 years, maybe it’s time to finally give it a go
• Across the Nightingale Floor: Tales of the Otori, Book One by Lian Hearn Narrated by Kevin Gray and Aiko Nakasone — listened to this one several years ago and enjoyed it, but not quite enough to continue on with the series
• I Am Legend by Richard Matheson Narrated by Robertson Dean — Dean’s a perfect narrator for this one, which has quite a few differences from the recent motion picture
• The Name of the Wind: Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 1 by Patrick Rothfuss Narrated by Nick Podehl — Day 2 came out this year, and I’ve listened to both books and will be picking up the 3rd on its day of release
• The Mote in God’s Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle Narrated by L J Ganser
• The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi Narrated by Jonathan Davis — one of my all-time favorite audiobooks, featuring a flooded Thailand…
• Solaris: The Definitive Edition by Stanislaw Lem and Bill Johnston (translator) Narrated by Alessandro Juliani
• Anthology: METAtropolis by Jay Lake, Tobias Buckell, Elizabeth Bear, John Scalzi, and Karl Schroeder Narrated by Michael Hogan, Scott Brick, Kandyse McClure, Alessandro Juliani, Stefan Rudnicki, and John Scalzi — and excellent all-novella (OK, a long novelette sneaks in here or there) anthology of near-future “soft collapse” shared world stories read by an all-star cast — side note, this was my first exposure to Michael Hogan, so when finally watching the new Battlestar Galactica series I had his narration here in mind
• Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke Narrated by Peter Ganim with an introduction written and narrated by Robert J. Sawyer — an excellent production of this classic sf novel
• Collection: Minority Report and Other Stories by Philip K. Dick Narrated by Keir Dullea — I have the print edition of this, and there are some real gems here such as “Autofac”, one of my favorites
• Hominids: The Neanderthal Parallax, Book 1 by Robert J. Sawyer Narrated by Jonathan Davis and Robert J. Sawyer
• The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett Narrated by Pete Bradbury
• The War with the Mein: Book One of the Acacia Trilogy by David Anthony Durham Narrated by Dick Hill — still an expensive purchase but one of these days I really hope to get to this trilogy in its entirety, whether in print or audio
• Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi Narrated by Wil Wheaton and John Scalzi
• Soon I Will Be Invincible: A Novel by Austin Grossman Narrated by Coleen Marlo and Paul Boehmer — superheroes and supervillains collide
• Best Served Cold and The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie Narrated by Michael Page — I very much enjoyed Abercrombie’s First Law trilogy in audio, but have heard of dissatisfaction from the switch in narrators
• The Cat Who Walks through Walls by Robert Heinlein Narrated by Tom Weiner
• Armor by John Steakley Narrated by Tom Weiner
• Variable Star by Robert A. Heinlein and Spider Robinson Narrated by Spider Robinson
• The Tar-Aiym Krang: A Pip & Flinx Adventure by Alan Dean Foster Narrated by Stefan Rudnicki — I enjoyed this audiobook, a little star-hopping orphan boy adventure
• Idlewild by Nick Sagan Narrated by Clayton Barclay Jones
• Imager: The First Book of the Imager Portfolio by L. E. Modesitt Narrated by William Dufris
• Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld Narrated by Alan Cumming — a wonderful little audiobook which began a now-finished series for young readers
• The Black Prism by Brent Weeks Narrated by Cristofer Jean
• Night Watch: Watch, Book 1 by Sergei Lukyanenko Narrated by Paul Michael
• Surface Detail: A Culture Novel by Iain M. Banks Narrated by Peter Kenny
• Peter & Max: A Fables Novel by Bill Willingham Narrated by Wil Wheaton
• Ark by Stephen Baxter Narrated by Chris Patton
• 7th Sigma by Steven Gould Narrated by Fred Berman — one of the books I passed on over the crowded summer
• Witch World by Andre Norton Narrated by Nick Podehl
• The Skinner: The Spatterjay Series: Book 1 by Neal Asher Narrated by William Gaminara
• The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch By Joseph Delaney Narrated by Christopher Evan Welch

Whew. There isn’t too much on the plate through the rest of the month either, so maybe I’ll finally get a few reviews out of “draft” …
