Posted on 2015-02-17 at 20:55 by Sam
Well, February's well past half over, so as usual it's beyond past time to get this month's Whispersync deal roundup put together. So here we go! [UPDATE: Since this series has drawn some new readers/listeners who may be unfamiliar with Whispersync for Voice, in brief: after (or at the same time as) buying the Kindle edition you can add on the narration if an enabled Audible edition exists, often for a steep discount on even the member/credit price.]
First, from the Monthly Deals for $3.99 or less listing

DECEMBER 10-16, 2014: For the first time in (at least recent) memory, all four of my picks for the week come off the "never before in audio" list, with none of the books even being released this decade and some being well out of copyright in text, and all under some of the best narrators in the field. There's still more backlist audiobooks and even more concurrent new releases also out this week, from the 50-audiobook "The Saint" series in its mind-boggling entirety to David Drake's Skyripper to Jane Yolen

JULY 2-8, 2014: Another fantastic week's worth of audiobooks has come our way, from beloved Pulitzer-winning classics in audiobook (and ebook) for the first time to post-apocalyptic sf and epic fantasy, Peter Pan retold, historical fantasy, and time-travel romance. Also out this week: Terry Brooks returns to Shannara (read by Simon Vance), along with new audiobooks from Chris Bohjalian and Veronica Roth, J.M. Ledgard's Submergence, and a standalone short audiobook from Neil Gaiman, his The Truth is a Cave

MAY 7-13, 2014: A sequel I've been anticipating for the past year, a short stay on the "missing in audio" list for a book from one of my favorite authors, a post-apocalyptic horror, Huck Finn in the future, and a Weird West anthology headline a fairly quiet publishing week this week, at least compared to last week's haul, but by no means does that imply that there aren't more books worth checking out in the ALSO OUT listings as well. Those include (among others) Porochista Khakpour's The Last Illusion and

Whispersync Daily Deal: Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak series
Posted on 2013-12-31 at 15:33 by Sam
Tuesday, December 31's crop of Kindle Daily Deals includes Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak series, with each of the 12 books available at $1.99 Kindle and books 1, 2, and 5 Whispersync enabled to the tune of $1.99 upgrades to the Ralph Lister-narrated Audible editions. The series is in audiobook through book 7, so perhaps it's a matter of processing before books 3, 4, 6, and 7 are enabled, and a matter of time before the rest are available in audio. In the meantime, the series starts with Cirque du Freak: A
