Author James Maxey interviews narrator Dave Thompson about Bitterwood

Posted on 2013-04-02 at 17:13 by Sam

In an Interview with Dave Thompson, narrator of Bitterwood, the book's author, James Maxey, asks about the process of turning his work into audio. Check it out:

Bitterwood: Dragon Age, Book 1 | [James Maxey]

"Bitterwood has recently been released in audio format through Audible, Amazon, and ITunes. The narrator and producer was Dave Thompson, an editor at PodCastle and narrator of the audio books Norse Code by Greg van Eekhout and Briarpatch by Tim Pratt. Bitterwood is my first audio book, so I was glad to be partnered with someone who knew what he

Release Week: The Rift Walker, The Leviathan Effect, The Clockwork Princess, and more

Posted on 2013-03-20 at 19:37 by Sam

While it's a busier week for young adult titles, not too much really strikes my ears in terms of concurrent new adult releases this week. Meanwhile, John Scalzi's The Human Division chugs along with This Must Be the Place: The Human Division, Episode 10. The big eye-opening audiobook news for me this week was the announcement that Neil Gaiman Presents is set to release another title next week, Robert Sheckley's Dimension of Miracles, read by John Hodgman. To celebrate, Audible is holding a NYC Comicon trip

Release Day: The Rift Walker: Vampire Empire, Book 2, by Clay and Susan Griffith

The Rift Walker: Vampire Empire, Book 2 | [Clay Griffith, Susan Griffith]

The Rift Walker: Vampire Empire, Book 2 By Clay and Susan Griffith Narrated By James Marsters for Buzzy Multimedia Publishing

Also available in MP3-CD, The Rift Walker, book two after The Greyfriar in Clay and Susan Griffith's Vampire Empire trilogy, is a worthy successor in story, narration and production for the Audie-nominated The Greyfriar. As in the first book, James Marsters as a cast of vampires could not be more perfect, and here the production is if anything even cleaner and more crisp. (The

Release Week: Bitterwood, Sister Mine, Intermusings, and Morlock Night

MARCH 6-12, 2013: Well it's a fairly quiet second release week in March, though not without a few audiobooks very much worth checking out. (It's even quieter on the "seen but not heard" front, as it really appears that both book and audiobook publishers had some manner of aversion to the Ides of March... though there is an intriguing anthology and a slowly picking up buzz novel from a small press to check out.) Meanwhile, John Scalzi's The Human Division marches on with episode 9, The Observers.

Release Day: Bitterwood by James Maxey, read by Dave Thompson

Posted on 2013-03-08 at 14:22 by Sam

Ah, the joys of a long, long, long-awaited audiobook finally arriving. Since meeting author James Maxey a few years ago, I've been pestering him about bringing Bitterwood to audio. Now, via ACX and narrator (and fellow AudioBookaneer!) Dave Thompson, it's finally here:

Bitterwood: Dragon Age, Book 1 | [James Maxey]

First published in print by Solaris in 2007 and later brought to ebook formats by Maxey himself, Bitterwood begins a 3-book series chronicling the efforts of the titular Bitterwood, dragon hunter: "Bitterwood has spent the past twenty

Release Day: Norse Code by Greg van Eekhout, read by Dave Thompson

Posted on 2013-01-24 at 19:12 by Sam

Back in the summer of 2009 I was getting back into reading and, ok, writing a bit, and started discovering some very interesting authors on Twitter -- in particular the trio of William Shunn, Paolo Bacigalupi, and Greg van Eekhout. I had actually even picked up van Eekhout's Spectra-published debut novel from a bit earlier that year, Norse Code, plucked from the bottom shelf of the B&N fantasy section, based on the clever title and strong opening line and chapter. ("On the last true day of spring the nine

Release Week: Miles Cameron's The Red Knight, two from Iambik, and Scalzi's The Human Division continues with "Walk the Plank"

Posted on 2013-01-23 at 17:31 by Sam

Another fairly quiet week in terms of highly-anticipated concurrent releases, though a new 30-hour epic fantasy audiobook from Hachette Audio certainly raises some interest, and two Iambik Audio productions of recent small press releases are certainly quite intriguing. And, of course, Scalzi's The Human Division continues. (And! At the bottom, again some "Whispersync for Voice" price quirks I stumbled across this week.)

The Red Knight By Miles Cameron, Narrated By Matthew Wolf for Hachette Audio — Length
