APRIL 9-15, 2014: After two massive release weeks in a row, we get a bit of a breather here in terms of overall numbers, but a half-dozen fantastic titles make for another week of hard choices for those without infinite time for listening. The ALSO OUT listings have a few items of interest as well, particularly Frank Herbert's Direct Descent read by Scott Brick, Matthew Costello's post-apocalyptic horror novel Home, Shae Ford's Slight and Shadow, and a wide selection of teen and middle grade titles

Posted on 2014-02-11 at 18:37 by Sam
Running through February 19, Audible.com's Begin at the Beginning sale on first books in a series includes 206 books all priced at $4.95. Now, 206 titles is a pretty long list. Here's what caught my eye, with covers and "PICK:" notations for the ones I really recommend, which include Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, Gene Wolfe's Shadow of the Torturer, Mira Grant's Feed, Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim, Paolo Bacigalupi's Shipbreaker, Tad Williams' The Dirty Streets of Heaven, and Michael J. Sullivan's The Crown

Sullivan’s Theft of Swords, Daniel O’Malley’s The Rook, and G. Willow Wilson’s Alif the Unseen being the outstanding listens.

While the release week for Tuesday August 14 is a bit quiet for concurrent new releases — again it’s the “Seen But Not Heard” list of Nick Mamatas’s Bullettime, collections from Kij Johnson and Jeffrey Ford, and some others which drive my thoughts on the week — there’s a sizable list of previously released books in audio for the first time, including a highly-anticipated sequel and a collection of stories by Joe Haldeman being the most intriguing audiobooks this week, with additional picks being Ken Scholes

Release day: some Recorded Books titles come a bit earlier than expected
Posted on 2012-08-09 at 14:04 by Sam
I wasn’t expected this to arrive until September 1, but Recorded Books has just released a very anticipated fantasy audiobook: Heir of Novron: Riyria Revelations, Book 3 By Michael J. Sullivan, Narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds — Length:31 hrs and 49 mins:
On the heels of Theft of Swords: Riyria Revelations, Book 1 (March) and Rise of Empire: Riyria Revelations, Book 2 (May), both wonderfully narrated by Reynolds: “A rising star in the fantasy genre, Michael J. Sullivan has built an ardent following for his
