Release Week: Chimera, vN, and Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber from Juliani and Wheaton

Posted on 2012-08-01 at 14:2 by Sam

July goes out with quite a bang this release week, with two of my long-anticipated sf titles and an unexpectedly fantastic surprise with the Audible Frontiers release of Roger Zelazny’s The Chronicles of Amber series under two all-star narrators.

Being quite a fan of the first and second books in the series, I’m already digging into Chimera: The Subterrene War, Book 3 By T. C. McCarthy, Narrated by John Pruden for Blackstone Audio: “Escaped Germline soldiers need to be cleaned up, and Stan Resnick is the

Redshirts: A Novel with Three Codas By John Scalzi

Narrated by Wil Wheaton for Audible Frontiers

Length: 7 hrs and 41 mins

Release Date: 06-05-12

Review by Dave Thompson: “Stay off the Bridge! Avoid the Narrative!”

“Is it just me…or is everyone on this ship monumentally fucked up about away teams?” asks one of the Redshirts early on in John Scalzi’s latest.  Redshirts is funny, exciting, and gets emotional and pretty heartfelt in the most surprising places. But what’s really unique about this one is how

Release Week: Redshirts by John Scalzi, a US release for Alastair Reynolds's Blue Remembered Earth, Daniel A. Wilson's Amped, and the story of Philip K. Dick's Robotic Resurrection

Posted on 2012-06-06 at 13:57 by Sam

The first release week for June 2012 is led by the sf meta-comedic Redshirts: A Novel with Three Codas By John Scalzi, Narrated by Wil Wheaton for Audible, out concurrently with the print and (DRM-free!) e-book release from Tor. At 7 hours and 41 minutes it sounds a bit slight, but Wheaton is not your typical plodding-along narrator. The book re-unites the author/narrator duo behind Fuzzy Nation (which was just honored with an Audie Award), Agent to the Stars, and The Android’s Dream, and certainly seems

Link: News: Wil Wheaton to narrate John Scalzi's Redshirts

Quoth the Scalzi: “I can tell you this now that it is not April Fools Day and you will believe me.” — Wil Wheaton will narrate the audiobook version of Redshirts:

And the news was confirmed by Wheaton on Twitter, where he added, “I’m super proud of it.”

Meanwhile, I’m still a-twitter over @wilw’s retweeting of my own April Fool’s joke, which even included speculation as to why this wasn’t already announced, as, yes, Scalzi says, “If ever there
