Posted on 2017-01-31 at 0:4 by Sam

The first #WhispersyncDeal roundup of 2017 is here! As usual I'll run down my picks among this month's Whispersync-for-voice-enabled Monthly Deals in Kindle Books, also known now as eBooks with Audible Narration, of which there are 536 to scan through this month. Well, I'm going to keep calling them "Whispersync deals", and here's what most caught my eye and ear this month; don't wait too long as these deals expire on January 31:

Island by [Huxley, Aldous] The Book of the Unnamed Midwife (The Road to Nowhere 1) by [Elison, Meg]

Island by Aldous Huxley, read by Simon Vance for Tantor Audio for $1.99+$3

Good Monsters?

Posted on 2015-10-31 at 19:42 by Dave

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, read by Christian Rummel Length: 9 hours, 8 minutes

Cabal by Clive Barker, read by Chet Williamson Length: 6 hours, 44 minutes

Nothing says Halloween quite like monsters. Over the last few weeks, two books I've listened to have focused on monsters and our reactions to them: Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes and Clive Barker's Cabal. Both of these books are considered classics of their eras, and listening to them back-to-back, I found their

March Whispersync Deal Roundup: Pierre Grimbert, Oz Reimagined, The Palace Job, Invisible Cities, Libba Bray, Anne McCaffrey, Diana Gabaldon, Harry Turtledove, Ursula K. Le Guin, and more

Posted on 2015-03-10 at 20:11 by Sam

I was planning to hold off posting this until March 13, because I know of a nice set of books that will be going on sale, but I'll have to settle for updating it after March 13 instead, due to some nice deals to pass along which expire on March 11, which is, er, tomorrow. Ah, the life of a bargain hunter.

So I'll start with those soon-to-expire deals, valid through Wednesday, March 11, taken from the Whispersync enabled titles among the 175 Kindle Books for $1.99 Each:

UPDATE 3/13: SEE THE END OF THE POST

December Whispersync Deal Roundup: Hurley, Jemisin, Walton, Rothfuss, Lawrence, Lynch, Sanderson, and much more

Posted on 2014-12-04 at 18:20 by Sam

I keep putting off compiling the December Whispersync Deal roundup, but (1) a good chunk of titles are only on sale through Dec 14 and (2) I already missed passing along both that Andy Weir's The Martian was on sale for $3 and that Rachel Aaron's The Spirit Thief was on sale as well as John Shirley's Everything is Broken, on and on... and since I've no idea when/if some of this deals will disappear, I had better get on it! In that frame of mind, first up here's some deals on some fantastic, highly

JUNE 25-JULY 1, 2014: A fantastic crop of audiobooks this week, with picks from "nerd fiction" to Mulholland-published speculative thrillers, collections, and Clive Barker's 1987 novel Weaveworld. Release Week: Shovel Ready, The Emperor's Blades, Alex Bledsoe's Eddie LaCrosse, Shawn Speakman's The Dark Thorn, Gateways, and Clive Barker's The Books of Blood

Posted on 2014-01-15 at 20:23 by Sam

JANUARY 8-14, 2014: This week the name of the game is "fantasy", though near-future noir (Shovel Ready), the latest Peter Clines (Ex-Purgatory, read by Jay Snyder), classic sf from Asimov (read by Scott Brick) and Vonda McIntyre (read by Gayle Hendrix), and most singularly the Frederik Pohl tribute anthology Gateways (read by the voice of Pohl's Gateway, Oliver Wyman) do make for a more diverse range of offerings. But the lion's share of my picks this week? There are swords, there are blades, there are
