OCTOBER 22-28, 2014: What was already an absolutely packed release week for concurrent new releases (Gibson, Faber, Rothfuss, Martin, Rice) and already with one back-list gem (Lewis Shiner's Frontera) includes the magnificent surprise of China Mieville's The Scar and Iron Council finally coming to US audio. It's been over a year and a half since I last fully turned my attention to the digital regional divide and these are two right from the top of the overseas wishlist, though in the meantime, several more

JUNE 11-17, 2014: There is an absolute avalanche of outstanding audio this week, comprised mostly of audiobooks we've been anticipating for a good while now, but led by a breathtaking surprise: Terry Bisson's 1993 collection Bears Discover Fire and Other Stories. Top 25 most-anticipated books of June 2014

Everyone has their own lists, but here’s ours: what we're most looking forward to this month, in chronological order of release, with audiobook information if we know about it. (I tried holding the list to 10 as I managed for last month's preview, but after a second pass cutting as much as I was close to happy with, I was still in the 30s. Trimming further to 25 was hard enough!)

The Twelve by Justin Cronin, read by Scott Brick for Random House Audio continues the story from Cronin's post-apocalyptic vampire novel The Passage which introduced a set of death row inmates used as experimental subjects for a virus discovered by an unfortunate South American expedition and the

The nominees for the 2012 World Fantasy Awards have been announced, and all five of the novels on the final ballot are available in audio. Let me run them down for you:

  • Those Across the River, Christopher Buehlman (Ace) — Those Across the River, Narrated by Mark Bramhall for Penguin Audiobooks — Length:9 hrs and 5 mins — Release Date:09-06-11 — this is one that interested me last year, mainly due to my affection for Bramhall’s narration on Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, and reviewed fairly positively
