APRIL 9-15, 2014: After two massive release weeks in a row, we get a bit of a breather here in terms of overall numbers, but a half-dozen fantastic titles make for another week of hard choices for those without infinite time for listening. Cory Doctorow audiobooks now available at Downpour.com
Posted on 2013-11-17 at 15:08 by Sam
While I wasn't looking, a quartet of Cory Doctorow's audiobooks showed up at Downpour.com -- they aren't available on Audible.com due to Audible's DRM-only format and Doctorow's anti-DRM stance. I don't know when they arrived, but it's a welcome sight and one I've been asking for since Downpour's launch as a DRM-free multi-vendor alternative to Audible.com. So, as promised in a quick update on this week's Release Week write-up, here's some more links and pictures and verbiage about Doctorow's audiobooks

April 1, 2013, Durham, North Carolina:
Cory Doctorow's work in audio, including Little Brother, Makers, and Pirate Cinema, has previously been available in both CD audio and through several other digital audiobook vendors, but has not been available on Audible.com. "I've always loved DRM," said Doctorow in

Cory Doctorow's Pirate Cinema, DRM-free and direct from the author
Posted on 2012-10-08 at 17:45 by Sam
Via author Cory Doctorow’s blog, he is selling direct, EULA- and DRM-free downloads of his latest audiobook, Pirate Cinema (Listening Library, read by Bruce Mann), from his own website. It’s also available DRM-free from Simply Audiobooks, eMusic, BooksOnBoard, and Barnes & Noble (probably among others), but this is the first I can remember seeing a publisher-published audiobook being sold directly in this manner. (I have purchased some of his previous audiobooks DRM-free from some of the above stores, and
