Posted on 2014-02-14 at 05:19 by Sam
FEBRUARY 5-11, 2014: While much more quiet in terms of quantity -- in particular in concurrent new releases, as apparently every publisher had the same "FEBRUARY 4 OR BUST" idea this year -- there's some absolutely exquisite quality in this week's audiobooks haul, led by Ted Chiang's 2002 collection Stories of Your Life and Others, along with backlist titles from Iain Banks and Octavia Butler, and the only week delayed conclusion in audio for Glen Duncan's Last Werewolf trilogy, By Blood We Live. Highlights

JANUARY 8-14, 2014: This week the name of the game is "fantasy", though near-future noir (Shovel Ready), the latest Peter Clines (Ex-Purgatory, read by Jay Snyder), classic sf from Asimov (read by Scott Brick) and Vonda McIntyre (read by Gayle Hendrix), and most singularly the Frederik Pohl tribute anthology Gateways (read by the voice of Pohl's Gateway, Oliver Wyman) do make for a more diverse range of offerings. But the lion's share of my picks this week? There are swords, there are blades, there are

DECEMBER 4-10, 2013: We're well into the quietest weeks of the year in terms of the publishing schedule, but still a few stellar audiobook picks for you this week from anthologies to collections to children's books and a classic short novel as well as the latest from Dean Koontz and Scott Sigler. In 'audiobook news' my eyebrows went up to finally see Nicola Griffith's Hild on pre-order listings, though under narrator Pearl Hewitt instead of the previously-announced Anne Flosnick. It appears I have been
