JUNE 11-17, 2014: There is an absolute avalanche of outstanding audio this week, comprised mostly of audiobooks we've been anticipating for a good while now, but led by a breathtaking surprise: Terry Bisson's 1993 collection Bears Discover Fire and Other Stories. There's high-end sf (Cibola Burn, The Long Mars, On the Steel Breeze), there's historically-set fantasy (The Quick), there's comedic fantasy (Spell or High Water) and urban fantasy (Shattered, Half-Off Ragnarok) and an sf/thriller hyrbid (A Better

Everyone has their own lists, but here’s ours: what we're most looking forward to this month, in chronological order of release, with audiobook information if we know about it. (I tried holding the list to 10 as I managed for last month's preview, but after a second pass cutting as much as I was close to happy with, I was still in the 30s. Trimming further to 25 was hard enough!)

JUNE 19-25, 2013: June goes out with quite a bang -- limiting the picks to even the four pairs below still leaves titles of interest in the "also out this week" listings, such as a literary historical fantasy from Andrew Sean Greer and Jeff Noon's follow-on to Vurt; it's also another big week for self-published releases with David D. Levine, M.R. Mathias and Hugh Howey all publishing well-produced audiobooks of their works.

PICKS OF THE WEEK:

I'll start the pairings with two top-flight concurrent new

Release Week: The Rise of Ransom City, The Dresden Files, The Iron Druid Chronicles, and City of Dark Magic

The last Tuesday in November brings new books in beloved series, as well as a Conan O'Brien-blurbed romp through a fantastical Prague. Still, it's another sequel which most catches my eye, and another sequel (Hannu Rajaniemi's The Fractal Prince) which I'm most disappointed to not see in audio this week.

That most-anticipated title for me this week is The Rise of Ransom City: The Half-Made World, Book 2 By Felix Gilman, Narrated by Ramon De Ocampo and Gregory Itzin for Audible Frontiers -- Length: 14 hrs

Well, the release week for Tuesday, April 24, 2012 is not messing around. There are two dozen+ new audiobooks, including a pretty big list of big titles.

The Mongoliad: The Foreworld Saga, Book 1 By Neal Stephenson, Greg Bear, Mark Teppo, E. D. deBirmingham, Erik Bear, Joseph Brassey, and Cooper Moo, Narrated by Luke Daniels for Brilliance Audio — concurrent with its print and e-book publication from Amazon’s 47North, this is the first novel to come out of the serial novel project “The Mongoliad”, of which
