Posted on 2015-10-30 at 16:14 by Sam

There are hundreds of Whispersync deals this month, and now it's coming to a close here's what you are literally about to miss out on.

First up, from the monthly Kindle Books for $3.99 or Less listings, there are 161 (ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-ONE) which are Whispersync for Voice enabled, and quite a few that are indeed less than $3.99. Here's what most caught my eye, though be warned that it is still a very long list:

Anathem by Neal Stephenson (Author), Oliver Wyman (Narrator), Tavia Gilbert (Narrator), and

March Whispersync Deal Roundup: Pierre Grimbert, Oz Reimagined, The Palace Job, Invisible Cities, Libba Bray, Anne McCaffrey, Diana Gabaldon, Harry Turtledove, Ursula K. Le Guin, and more

Posted on 2015-03-10 at 20:11 by Sam

I was planning to hold off posting this until March 13, because I know of a nice set of books that will be going on sale, but I'll have to settle for updating it after March 13 instead, due to some nice deals to pass along which expire on March 11, which is, er, tomorrow. Ah, the life of a bargain hunter.

So I'll start with those soon-to-expire deals, valid through Wednesday, March 11, taken from the Whispersync enabled titles among the 175 Kindle Books for $1.99 Each:

UPDATE 3/13: SEE THE END OF THE POST

The AudioBookaneers pick their favorite audiobooks of 2014

Posted on 2015-03-02 at 15:15 by Sam

Well, it's (past) that time of year again: time for Dave and I to look back on a year in listening. We laughed, we cried, we cheered, we jeered, we stayed up well into the night for these audiobooks. It seems like every year calls for a slight wrinkle in presentation, but this year it's a familiar one: our audiobooks of the year, runners up in both new audiobooks of new books and new audiobooks of previously published books, and our favorite "new to us" listens of the year. (And, mostly because it helps

The 2014 Audie Award finalists have been announced

Posted on 2014-02-19 at 15:33 by Sam

Via Booklist Online, the 2014 Audies Finalists have been announced. My first thoughts are 1. that I'm thrilled to see Kim Stanley Robinson's Shaman named as a finalist in the Science Fiction category. And 2, I can't recall a previous year with such a broad base of audio publishers. The big 5/6 and Amazon's imprints, along with independents both big (Recorded Books, Blackstone, Tantor, and GraphicAudio) and small: Podium (who continues to produce an extremely high quality of well-curated and well-cast

Audible's "Begin at the Beginning" sale, including Tad Williams, Richard Kadrey, Mira Grant, Paolo Bacigalupi, and more

Posted on 2014-02-11 at 18:37 by Sam

Running through February 19, Audible.com's Begin at the Beginning sale on first books in a series includes 206 books all priced at $4.95. Now, 206 titles is a pretty long list. Here's what caught my eye, with covers and "PICK:" notations for the ones I really recommend, which include Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, Gene Wolfe's Shadow of the Torturer, Mira Grant's Feed, Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim, Paolo Bacigalupi's Shipbreaker, Tad Williams' The Dirty Streets of Heaven, and Michael J. Sullivan's The Crown

Release Week: The Violent Century, The Necromancer's House, Parasite, Dead Set, Zendegi, Two Serpents Rise, The Prince of Lies, and Shadow's Lure

Posted on 2013-11-04 at 00:59 by Sam

OCTOBER 23-29, 2013: An absolutely packed release week so I'll spare some of the usual dithering up here to make room. Briefly: new novels from Lavie Tidhar and Christopher Buehlman would be quite a week alone, but add a new novel from Mira Grant and bring Greg Egan's Zendegi to audio -- for starters -- and there's something for everyone this week. In the "also out this week" listings: Katabasis, continuing the Mongoliad saga (sans Neal Stephenson); Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens narrates Mary Shelley's Franke
