August is almost over, which means it's #WhispersyncDeal roundup time! Before I get to the regular Monthly Deals in Kindle Books and 50 Kindle Book Deals for $2 Each listings, and the huge list of titles in Audible's "3 years of daily deals" sale, though, a completely separate deal headlines my picks this month:
Per Tor and Tor.com editor Marco Palmieri, Max Gladstone's Craft Sequence is moving from Tor Books to Tor.com Publishing, and the series-wide $4.99 sale continues through August. The bad news is

With less than 10 days left in the month, perhaps it's time to finally get the January Whispersync Deal roundup out into the world. [UPDATE: Since this post has drawn some new readers who may be unfamiliar with Whispersync for Voice, in brief: after (or at the same time as) buying the Kindle edition you can add on the narration if an enabled Audible edition exists, often for a steep discount on even the member/credit price.]

MAY 28-JUNE 3, 2014: June got off to a big start, with star-spanning sf (Kevin J. Anderson's The Dark Between the Stars), epic fantasy (Mark Lawrence's Prince of Fools), historical almost-supernatural thriller (Robert McCammon's The River of Souls), a fairytale recast in the Wild West (Catherynne M. Valente's Six-Gun Snow White), and yes, horror from Stephen King (Mr. Mercedes). In the ALSO OUT listings there's an Expanse novella from James S.A. Corey along with

Everyone has their own lists, but here’s ours: what we're most looking forward to this month, in chronological order of release, with audiobook information if we know about it. (I tried holding the list to 10 as I managed for last month's preview, but after a second pass cutting as much as I was close to happy with, I was still in the 30s. Trimming further to 25 was hard enough!)

APRIL 2-8, 2014: Well, the April 1 avalanche was followed up with an April 8 landslide, with a long, long! list of titles to check out, which took me a good long while to finally make sense of. (Seeing as this is coming a full week late, and the "next" release week is already here!) Just... so many good books that even after cutting beyond the comfort point, I had more than a dozen "picks". Which does nobody any good, now, does it? So I cut further, and it hurts a bit, but the audiobooks that remain really

The 2014 Audie Award finalists have been announced
Posted on 2014-02-19 at 15:33 by Sam
Via Booklist Online, the 2014 Audies Finalists have been announced. My first thoughts are 1. that I'm thrilled to see Kim Stanley Robinson's Shaman named as a finalist in the Science Fiction category. And 2, I can't recall a previous year with such a broad base of audio publishers. The big 5/6 and Amazon's imprints, along with independents both big (Recorded Books, Blackstone, Tantor, and GraphicAudio) and small: Podium (who continues to produce an extremely high quality of well-curated and well-cast

September kicks off with quite a vengeance with new audio of both new, newly translated, and long-running series. As usual I have my “seen but not heard” complaints, led in a big way by the new widely-praised Tad Williams urban fantasy novel The Dirty Streets of Heaven and the Cory Doctorow/Charles Stross joint The Rapture of the Nerds but, I guess, you can’t have everything.
Out on September 1 was Clockwork Angels: The Novel By Kevin J. Anderson, Narrated by Neil Peart for Brilliance Audio. “International

Rush's Neil Peart to narrate the Brilliance Audio production of Kevin J. Anderson's Clockwork Angels: The Novel (based in turn on the Rush album)
Posted on 2012-06-27 at 20:01 by Sam
Via his blog, author Kevin J. Anderson mentions (among other things) something he’d apparently previously announced:
The hardcover, full-color novel comes out from ECW on September to coincide with the launch of the Rush Clockwork Angels tour. The unabridged audiobook from Brilliance is narrated by Neil Peart himself.
And, well, that’s not something I’d heard yet. Anderson is also giving away a free booklet preview of the novel:
Very interesting… The audiobook listing at Brilliance Audio gives a release
